June Okada

June was born in the Bronx, NY to immigrant parents from Japan. She has lived in mostly metropolitan areas working in film production until she moved to Dena’ina Lands in Talkeetna, Alaska in 2018.
June’s experience consists of community engagement and organizing, visual and conceptual research and documentary filmmaking. She currently works protecting and supporting the Susitna River Valley and its communities, and focuses on energy equity and democracy. She enjoys spending time with her family back/bike-packing, river rafting and being outside.
